Stephanie Hilgert Ford was born in 1980 and grew up with a love of art. Living in many different cities across the United States while growing up gave her an appreciation of noticing the beauty of her surroundings. From the deserts of southern California, to the woods of New England and finally rural Texas, all play roles in inspiration for her art. An avid living historian and photographer, Stephanie catches many images at reenactments--many while hidden as a participant upon the field. She also has a deep love for the "cowboy" culture still found in rural Texas and the wildlife she sees on her farm and has seen in the past places she has lived or in her travels.
Stephanie received her Bachelor's of Arts in Fine Art at Stephen F. Austin State University and a Masters at Texas Woman's University. She has illustrated the title Confederate Alphabet, published by Pelican Publishing, in 2011 and is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She also published a novel, Grayback in 2011 through Amazon publishing. Currently she also holds active membership in the International Society of Scratchboard Artists, Texas Art Educators' Association, and the Corsicana Art League. She spends her spare time with her family at history reenactments, trout fishing, and taking care of her flock of heritage breed chickens.
