Recently released in September, "Confederate Alphabet" by Rickey Pittman, released by Pelican Publishing.
While I wish I had been able to see one of my own books published, this title gave me the experience of illustrating a children's book: 15 spreads, 2 single pages, and a cover to paint in 2 months! (And all done while still working full time as a high school teacher--and I was dealing with a pregnancy that made me feel ill all the time.) I will say that the advance gave me the chance to invest in a few more things for my art and the historical subject was kind of fun. I'm hoping Civil War buffs will be impressed to find the attention to detail in a children's book. (Northern people, please don't hate me. New Hampshire has a place in my heart, y'all.)
